Chris Butterworth and Heather Barr have been working together as The Phoenix Agents of Thompson’s Realty since 2008, after starting their real estate careers in 2003 and 2005, respectively.  This page offers a little insight into what we’re all about…

Chris Butterworth

As a Realtor, Chris spends more time analyzing statistics and reading economic reports than is healthy. He’s also a husband, father, writer, and amateur photographer. In his spare time he trains for and competes in triathlons. He specializes in what we like to call “middle class surburbia housing” which in the Metro Phoenix region in 2012 means homes generally priced in the $150,000 to $650,000 range.  You can read Chris’s full bio here.

Heather Barr

Heather is a former paralegal and school librarian turned Realtor.  An avid reader and aspiring writer, she loves helping people navigate the often-confusing world of residential real estate.  She specializes in first time buyers, condo and vacation homes, investors and luxury homes.  She has also developed a wealth of experience and expertise with bank-owned REO foreclosure homes over the last few years.  You can read Heather’s full bio here.

The following mission statement was written in 2006, when we originally discussed what a weblog should be.  (and I don’t need to change a word today, 5 years later.)

What’s this all about?

This is a place where we can inform and educate real estate buyers and sellers by sharing our daily thoughts and experiences.  We’re “plugged in” to the Phoenix Real Estate Market, and want to foster education and discussion in real time.

We see listings, talk with buyers & sellers, and discuss the short-term and long-term market outlook everyday.  We read news stories and current events with a “how does that effect Phoenix Real Estate?” frame of mind.  We believe you can gain some experience from our knowledge – as if you were sitting in our office with us.  This will help you make better real estate-related decisions.

Please feel free to join us.  All opinions are welcome.  Read, comment, share your insights and observations.  We only ask that everyone be respectful of others.  After all, you are sitting in our “office”.

Over the years many other blogs out there have become more advertisements or lead-capture tools.  Not ours.  We’re not here to “sell” you or “capture” you; we’re here to help you – something in your life is driving you to make a change (growing family, marriage, divorce, retirement, job change, kids moving out, kids moving back in, caring for an elderly relative, investing, up-sizing, down-sizing, etc.); we can help make that transition as smooth as possible.

Preamble

Thompson’s Realty has one primary purpose, one unified goal, one main philosophy in all of our business operations — to provide our clients unparalleled customer service. That may sound trite or cliché, but it is real. We founded this brokerage based on the belief that we can do something different in real estate. Everything we do, from the hiring of agents, to the implementation of procedures and processess in our brokerage is ultimately done for the express purpose of providing all of our clients, and our agents, with exemplary service.

In the real estate industry, a brokerage has four main groups of people they have to interact with. Below are our promises to each of those groups.

For Our Clients

  • You will be treated with the utmost respect by your agent, and by our office.
  • You will be told the truth, always. Even if it hurts.
  • You will be our primary focus and concern.
  • No one will ever try to talk you into doing anything that you are uncomfortable with, or that you do not completely understand.
  • You will never be obligated to continue using any service we provide.
  • We will make every effort humanly possible to ensure your real estate goals are achieved.
  • Your agent will be experienced (or in a mentor relationship with an experienced agent) and professional.
  • You will have unfettered access to your agent’s broker and office staff.

For Our Prospective Clients

  • You will never be hounded or harassed to “get the sale” (or for any other reason).
  • We will attempt to answer any questions you may have.

For Our “Competitors” and Ancillary Service Providers

  • We will treat you like we expect to be treated.
  • We will work together with you to achieve a successful transaction closing.
  • We will immediately pay commissions due.

Those are our promises. And we plan on keeping them. Always. Unconditionally. Forever.
