Wow! I'm flattered - all positive responses. Apparently, I've discovered the trick to making just about anyone agree with my point of view: blame Washington and the media. Hmmmm.... maybe I'm ready to run for Congress. ;-)

Heather,

This is a great post. You really have a knack for nailing things on the head. Like Chris, I follow a few economics blogs - investors and financial experts. The three I follow are dead set against THIS bailout plan. They understand that something needs to be done, but they don't like THIS particular plan.

Understandingly this is a complex piece of legislation - however, the timing makes it worse - being so close to the election. I just hope they get it right!

Heather ~

Well done. I started off my last post about the bailout with this:
I’m going to preface this by saying

#1 - I am not a mortgage broker and

#2 - this is just plain confusing even to those in the business of explaining to the rest of us.

Then gave a few links to the folks out there with a deeper understanding.

Your perspective is much more similar to my take on it. The over-hype in the media and the political front can't be doing any of us any good.
Cheers!

This is a very well-crafted post. I've mostly shied away from writing about this topic as well, simply because it's the most intricate & complicated economic event we've experienced in our lifetimes. How can I explain it all in a few paragraphs? (and that's assuming I understand it all.)

I read two economists regularly. Both are very well respected around the world. Both are very well connected. Both have access to people and information that we don't have. And both are very reasonable and write without an agenda. (In other words, neither one is a wacko, career doom & gloom bear, nor are they crazy Dow 30,000 type bulls.)

Unfortunately, they have differing opinions about the current crises & bailout. Heck, if these guys can't be on the exact same page, how can I expect the average Realtor to give meaningful analysis?
