These companies are a growing problem in the UK as well. I have seen many consumer protection agency cases where people have been given notice to quit their homes within a month of undertaking an equity release scheme...and they had been promised that they could stay in their homes for life! This was from seemingly reputable and well known companies...so heaven knows what a company putting up handwritten signs would offer (or take). Your advice to be wary is good....take heed all who consider these schemes as an easy option!
