Spuds MacKenzie – you know you’re old when…

Today I was talking with a young woman in her 20′s, and the conversation turned to “attack breed” dogs – specifically pit bulls.  Somehow we got stuck on the difference between pit bulls, bull terriers, and pit bull terriers.

At the same time we each pulled a popular iconic dog into the conversation:

Her:  “like the Target dog!”

Me:  “like Spuds MacKenzie!” said with the conviction of this being common knowledge.

She looked at me like I had a 3rd eye and spoke a foreign language.

Her:  “Who?”

Spuds MacKenzie

The more I explained Spuds…

“you know, The Original Party Animal, Bud Light, from the 80′s.”

…the more I knew I was in trouble!

Your feels the need to watch “Remember the 80′s” on VH-1 Realtor,

My good friend Trent pointed me to an article written by Jeff Pearlman at SI.com (Pearls of Wisdom, “Once linked by greatness, A-Rod, Junior have gone separate ways”), which makes a similar reference to The Original Party Animal.

Nice to know the SI writers read my blog…
